EARTH DAY 2008



It's world earth day today. A reminder for us to do our part to save planet earth. I missed The Inconvenient Truth last night. And a few weeks ago i missed 6 degrees could change the world. Two should watch shows, and i missed it. Well, i'm sure astro will re-air those two shows.

Anyways, in the spirit of World Earth Day today, i'd want to list down what i think i can and will try to do for our dear earth. I might be just one person, but hey, if i do my part, there'll at least be one less person who doesn't in this world. (pening tak ayat ni?) Here the small things (yang teringat) that i can do:

1. Save paper - use both sides.
We use a lot of paper at the office, so much for the paper-less community. :p As much as i could, i try my best to make sure that everything is correct prior to printing, so as not to waste and i print on used paper for drafts. The thingis, my boss doesn't like it when i print drafts on used paper. And he has a tendency of misplacing printed stuffs.. That's my challenge. :p

2. Driving at constant comfortable speed, and don't speed unnecessarily.
Driving at a constant speed saves fuel. So far, i've been trying to adopt that in my driving. Most of the time, i'm ok i guess, but sometimes, when things get on my nerves, speed jugak, especially uphill, where i can just look to the next person and give a "sucker!" look when he's trying all he can to make his 1.3 car go as fast uphill.. Hahahaha Jahat aku ini. However, this has got to change. I need to be in a relaxed state before driving and maintain that while driving. It's not worth trying to teach others a lesson they're not willing to learn. :p

3. Use stuffs until it falls apart or can't be used. Don't buy unnecessarily.
Hmm... this is quite tough, especially when it comes to my baby's clothing. However, i do try and use up one handbag and a pair of shoes until it's all worn out before getting new ones. thank God my ways of buying shoes and bags have changed since i got married. :D

4. Use less plastic, polystirene (spelling?)...
These stuffs are used everyday, because i tapau food to the office. Maybe i should just eat at the cafetaria instead of in my workplace. Will definitely save on plastic bags (for drinks), polystirene (for take-away food), plastic bags they put the take-away food in... wow... that's a lot! Yes.. starting tmrw, i'll have my bfast at the cafetaria... Lunch maybe susah sikit, but i'll see what i can do. :) Another point, use biodegradable plastics to put stuffs in. Supermarkets like jusco and carrefour uses biodegradable plastic i think. and at home, my husband and i only buy biodegradable trash bags for our domestic trash. It may cost a ringgit or two more than ordinary bags, but we're happy to at least do something for our environment.

5. Use less diapers
Hehehe... must toilet train sarah as soon as she's ready to lessen diaper use. God knows how long it takes for diapers to disintegrate! Converting to washable diapers?? That's a good idea too but we also need to use detergents when washing, so that's a point to ponder as well.

6. Recycle!!
At the time being, we collect recyclables at home. This initiative was started by my dear hubby. Thank God we're on the same frequency when it comes to saving mother nature. Takyah susah2 nak bagi kesedaran. :) We store away used plastic bottles, aluminium cans, so that we can recycle them. But, at the time being, sejak pindah, kitorg simpan and belum htr to recyling centre yet, coz we havent found one. Hehe. Should go and check where my the nearest centre is.

7. Turn off the tap, fan light when not in use.
This had been taught since school but sometimes, i tend to not do it ayway. So, i need to remind myself to switch off the lights and fan when i move to a different room, and train sarah to turn off the tap while brushing her teeth. (as for now, i can't even get her to brush her own teeth yet. hehe.)

So there. Things that i think i can do for the environment. As i said earlier, it might not be much but if each one of us takes the initiative, it will have a big impact. Don't be selfish. Save the earth for our children, and our children's children, and their children threafter...

Working with idiots

Huhuhu.. samapi bila la sumpahan kerja dengan org yg tak bijak ni nak habis agaknya?? Sampai aku transfer ke kem. lain kot?? Mungkin ke? Huhuhu.. tolongggg.... stress tahap gaban la keje dgn org bangang....

Last friday, we had a meeting... preparation for presentation for the new ybm. Lawaknya, yang dijemput utk buat presentation tu agensi je.. Bos plak yangsibuk2 nak join sekali. Padahal, last week sesi utk bhg buat presentation dah dibuat, and bhg kitorg dah diberi peluang, eh.. tak.. dia bagi orang lain present dulu.. sampai sudah tak present lagi... tetiba sibuk plak nak join the uninvited session. Sepanjang mesy tu mmg obvious semua org agak bengang, except agensi la sbb diorg nak kata apa pun kan... Benda basic abt the bhg pun tak tau, mau tak bengang.

Apepun, sth happened masa tu yg baut aku terfikir2 sampai harini. Hmm.. teruk sgt ke statement yg aku buat tu?? Dia suh aku panggil satu press conf after the presentation. Presentation tu katanya pukul 8pm, but i think mesti dinner dulu, dong deng dong deng mesti dalam kol 9 lebih baru start... presentation campur soal jawab, mau dua jam lebih.. maybe more.. so lebih kurang dah dekat tgh malam.. bilanya bhg nak present??? Mangkuk berayun betul! Pastu kalau buat pc, pukul berapa?? Kol 3 pagi?? So aku bagi la sebijik kat dalam meeting tu jugak... aku cakap "ok.. saya check dulu dgn susk ybm.. Kalau dia kata ok, saya buatla.. kalau tak kang sia2 saya kena marah pulak" Nada stern la.. tapi aku rasa takla sampai kurang ajar...

Lepas meeting, ada salah sorang bosses ni gi kat aku cakap "Amboi.. marah betul you ye." and it made me think, teruk sangat ke gaya bahasa aku masa tu?? Hmm.. kadang2 yg kita rasa biasa2 je tapi pada orang teruk bunyinya ek.. Iskk..

Tapi tadi aku tanya adik sebelah ni, dia kata takdela.. biasa je.. Hmm.. saja la ni bos tu nak pancing aku gosip.. Dia mmg suka bercakap. Nak pulak kalau dilayan...

Bos aku pun ckp kat aku after the meeting.. "ha.. you nak buat apa skang ni lepas mesy ni?? dia suruh you buat pc tu..." aku reply je.. "Buat bodoh.." :p

Urghhhhhh... aku tak boleh tolerate la working with idiotsss...... tolong!!!!

EAT!!

Hmm.. through my observation on my daughter's daily babble, i think her first actual word which sounds right and have the correct meaning is EAT. Hehehe... word lain tu dia macam ada la sebut jugak.. but not precise la sebutan dia.. contohnya daa-dee (daddy), pa-pak (tok bapak), derr (there). Yang betul nahunya rasanya memang EAT. Dia sebut eat, and point to edible items, macam biskut tiger dia, porridge, pendek kata menda2 yang boleh dimakan dan dia rasa nak makan. Kalau kitorang kat atas and dia nak pergi makan, dia ckp eat and tunjuk kat bawah.. nak pergi kitchen la tuh, sbb kitorangbiasa have meals in the kitchen. Isk.. dalam banyak2 word, eat yang berjaya disebut dulu. Hehe.. nampak sangat word favourite (dan hobi) mommy dia. :0 (hehe.. daddy jugak la kot, kan??)

Last weekend, pergi rumah in laws coz diorang baru balik umrah, so spent some time with them. I remembered dulu when i was heavily pregnant or when sarah was a tiny baby, i bought some dresses for 1 year old toddler and simpan dulu kat sana (because masa tu tgh sibuk nak pindah etc..etc..) Rasa macam ada dua-tiga helai je.. Cari punya cari, sekali penuh satu travel bag!! Lols. Tapi tu campur dengan baju yang kakak Almaz dia tinggalkan la.. cukupla dresses sampai umo 5 tahun... Takyah beli dresses dah.. hehe.. as if la kan.. :p

Conundrums of The Daily Traffic

I drive to and from work everyday, with my precious little cargo at the backseat. Each and everyday, the same things happen and it makes me wonder ....?

1. Why people loves to hog the middle lane

It never fails to amaze me. I mean, when you go into a main road, you just have to go into the leftmost lane (or rightmost, depending on your point of entry). But no.. some people just have to zoom all the way to the middle lane, regardless there's another vehicle coming fast from behind, and tht poor fella had to brake instantaneously (sometimes that poor fella is me). The worse thing is, elok2 je masuk middle lane, they slow down, like really slow ok. As in, kalau the speed limit is 90, they go on 60 or 70. Like please la people. The middle lane is not your safe lane where you should be when you feel that you want to be 'safe'. Konon2.. senang duduk middle lane, nak ke kiri ke, ke kanan ke senang. Like duh!~ ok. Duduk lane mana2 pun, if you have your senses, senang je nak pergi mana2.. Unless la you left your senses at home.
You stay in the middle lane if you're overtaking the slower vehicles in the left lane. If there's no vehicle there, then you're obviously not overtaking, so by all means, move to the left lane.
I wonder if these people have actually tried to drive on the leftmost lane. It's actually a very relaxing drive. You drive at any speed you feel comfortable at, nobody's gonna go after you. If there's a slower vehicle up front, just light your blinkers and overtake gently. Then get back to the leftmost lane. It won't kill you to be on that left lane you know. But it will certainly kill others if you keep hogging the middle lane (esp at 50kph). :p

2. Why people brake for no apparent reason

This, plus point 1 is usually a favourite of women drivers. I dunno. I'm a woman driver myself, i might have done the same thing, but i think most of the time i don't because my darling instructor hubby will definitely give me an earful if i did.

It's like, you're driving leisurely, the car in front ofyou is at a safe distance, and the car in front of the car in front of you is like miles ahead. and then, the car in front brakes... No apparent reason whatsoever. I hate following these vehicles because you'll end up braking too. Do you know that braking and going and braking and going uses up a lot of fuel??? It's not wrong to use your brake... but it is wrong to test your braking device on the road in the vicinity of other cars.. It's dangerous!! (and ridiculous). So stop braking for no reason, please.

3. Why people zoom super fast only to stop at the next traffic light.

This one drives me up the wall. Here i am, cruising til i get to the next traffic light (where from the distance you can see that it's red and you can't go anywhere anyway. you've to stop). Tiba2 muncul pulak mamat mana dgn kereta konon2 power dgn skirting tinggi dah macam troli kat giant, zoom macam tak cukup jalan, and at the end of the day, keter kitorang berenti sebalh menyebelah je kat traffic light tu. Lorr.. ingatkan laju2 sangat dah sampai ke bulan.. kena stop jugak kat traffic light rupanya... Ironic isn't it.

Sigh!~ banyak kes jalan raya ni sbb tak guna otak je. Tak tau la.. it's like when on the road, everybody mutates into brainless, horrible creature. Please, a reminder for myself and all road users, drive safely. Kalau accident, sakit tau!

Uhuhukkk... Bos kata aku makin gumuk!!! Uwaaa.. Dia kata punggung macam makin lebar je.. isk bos nih... tadek mende lain ke dia nak tgk.. isk.. You checking out my ass ye... ooo... ni keje ko selama ni. Tapi aku jawab bali.. nak beranak lagi kot... Hahaha... padan muka. :p

Bertuahnye Sarah

Hehe.. mak orang ni, takde citer lagi best nak diblog kalau bukan citer padal anak dia. Hehehee..

Hmm.. macam mana nak start citer nih.

Sarah ni rasanya macam budak2 lain di zaman moden ini, suka belek2, tekan2 butang henpon, baik henpon mummy or daddy ataupun henpon lama yang kitorg dah tak pakai yg kitorg bagi kat dia. Tp, dia kureng suka sket henpon lama tu sbb dia tau org tak pakai nak buat calls pun. Walaupunkitorg letak sim card bodo dlm phone tu supaya boleh switch on, dia tetap lebih berkenan kepada henpon mummy or daddy yang boleh guna...

Sabtu lepas, seperti biasa, pantang lepa, dia pun dapat henpon mummy dan membelek2 danmenekan2 butang2nya seperti biasa. Mummy pandang je.. sbb dah tau phone tu autolock, tekan2 pun takpe... Tapik, sekali bila kalih tgk, uiks.. rasa macam skrin mesej.. aik.. tak autolock ke henpon aku nih. Oo.. lupa. Dia kalau last screen was not the main menu screen, dia takkan autolock. Patutla ralit, senyap je dia membelek phone tu kali ni. Rupa2nya dia dah nak masuk google from the phone. Isk.. apola yang nak dicarik agaknya... Dah nampak macam itu jadinya, cepat2 mommy amek balik phone tu, lock dan letak tepi. Bawak sarah masuk bilik, tgk daddy siap2 nak pergi detachment.

Dalam kol 6.30 ptg, ramai2 la masuk keter nak htr daddy gi subang airport, sbb daddy nak gi keje kat beijing. 25/4 nnt baru balik (sian daddy celebrate bday sorang2). Anyways, masa tgh duduk dlm kete on the way tu, tgk la henpon.. ada sms dari besfren daddy (aku kenal, azeno pun kenal, nura kenal gak kot). Dia tulis "You salah orang ni. - I***k" Yang aku ni pulak.. eh.. apehal mamat ni htr msg.. aku tak msg pun kat dia.. Pastu aku gelak2 la... cakap kat Dan.. "ni apela kawan you sms kat i ni. Dia salah org kot. Dia kata i yg salah org. Manade i sms dia."
Dan ckp balik... " y dont you check your sent msgs"..

So aku pun check balik... Huakkkk terkujat aku... ada satu sms kepada org tersebut, dengan panggilan manja suruh dia call aku. UIsh.. setahu aku, ayat tu aku htr kat Dan masa dia kat Manila haritu... Pastu baru teringat kisah awal tadi... nih mesti sarah yang tekan2 pastu terhtr sms tu kat nama yg first appear, nama orang itula... Ishhh.... Nih bisa kasik mummy in trouble nih sayang ooiii... Pastu gelak2 cakap kat Dan, sarah main2 phone.. And cepat2 gak Dan call kawan dia tu, pastu diorang pakat2 gelakkan aku. Huh... panaassss je... Iskk.. bertuah betui anak dara aku nehhh...

Let's ban Dutch Products

The Dutch have yet again come up with anti-Islam stuffs. Previously it was the cartoon strips.. now comes Fitna, the movie, backed up by one of their right-wing politician. So, what can we do to show just how much we protest against their despicable doings. Well... we can BAN Dutch products... If all muslims worldwide does so, it will certainly bruise, if not cripple their economy.

So what are the Dutch products that we can ban?? I've googled and found out that 2 major brands are Dutch, namely, the Shell petrol and Unilever products. Well.. you may think that it's easy to ban just 2 brands.. but just look at the following list of unilever products (some of it) - courtesy of Wikipedia:

Hmmm... quite a list huh? Banyak jugak barang2 yang biasa digunakan without actually knowing that it's dutch products kan? Well, now we know and the choice is ours.
